Wendy Cleland-Hamnett, who has been serving as Acting Director of OPPT for the last year, has been asked to serve as Director of OPPT. Here is the announcement issued by Assistant Administrator Steve Owens:
“I am very pleased to announce that I have asked Wendy Cleland-Hamnett to serve as the Director of the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT). As you know, Wendy has served as the Acting Director of OPPT for the last year, and i have had the pleasure of working closely with her to implement the Administrator’s priorities for the office, including enhancing our chemical management program, reforming the Toxic Substances Control Act, increasing transparency and promoting pollution prevention, among many other significant efforts. Wendy has more than 30 years of service at EPA, and in addition to being Acting Director of OPPT, she has had extensive experience in the toxics program, as well as other offices at EPA. Wendy will do an outstanding job as the Director of OPPT.” - Steve Owens

U.S. EPA Pollution Prevention Grants

Notice of availability - Pollution Prevention Grant Program - EPA’s Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics announced the availability of approximately $4.1 million to fund pollution prevention grants to the States, Tribes, and Intertribal Consortia in FY 2010 for prevention activities during FY 2010 - FY 2011. Grant dollars are targeted at State and Tribal technical assistance programs that address the reduction or elimination o fpollution by businesses across all environmntal media. Morocco Brochure

NPPR in coorperation with the U.S. EPA and Centre Marocain de Production Propre (Moroccan Cleaner Production Center) created a brochure for the Moroccan Textile Industry. The brochure provides an outline of pollution prevention (P2), P2 opportunities, and economic incentives of P2. Information in this brochure can be expanded beyond the Moroccan Textile Industry.
