Waste Minimization Act of 1989





P2 Objective: Establishes source reduction as the preferred method of

waste reduction, and establishes a voluntary assistance program.

Numeric Goal: Reduce 25% of waste generated in the state by July 1, 1994, and

50% by 2000 (using January 1, 1987 as baseline).

Assistance Offered: In cooperation with the University of Northen Iowa Waste

Reduction Center, offers educational outreach.

Reporting Requirements: None.

Incentives: None.

Funding: Solid Waste Account (within the Groundwater Protection Fund),

consisting of waste tonnage fees.  Fund goes to assist business in waste management.
