Kentucky Revised Statute, Chapter 224 for Environmental Protection,
1988
- P2 Objective: To encourage voluntary environmental leadership in P2.
- Numeric Goal: Reduction goals for facilities (using 1987 as baseline) of 25% by 1,
1997, and 50% by 1, 2002.
- Assistance Offered: Establishes Center for Pollution Prevention at a state university
to provide an information clearinghouse, technical assistance, and education.
- Reporting Requirements: None.
- Incentives: Awards/recognation and preferred treatment for facilities meeting
numeric goals.
- Funding: Pollution Prevention Fund used to finance P2 programs authorized by the
center.

Definitions
Pollution Prevention -- In-plant practices that reduce, avoid, or eliminate the
generation of hazardous waste or the release of toxic chemicals at their source. Pollution
prevention does not include activities taken at locations away from the pollution-generating
activity, such as recycling or treatment, concentrating the hazardous or toxic content of waste,
reducing volume, or dilution.
