Definitions
Agency-The Division of Environmental Protection
Compliance Assistance-Services provided to the regulated community in order to assure environmental laws and regulations are being addressed by cooperating businesses.
Director-the Director of the Division of Environmental Protection
Imminent Environmental Hazard-Any conditions or practices that present an impending and unreasonable risk to the environment and which may also be an immediate threat to human health.
Multi-media-Water, air, waste, and land.
Pollution Prevention-The means of reducing pollutants entering any waste stream through (in order of acceptability) source reduction, waste minimization, recycling, treatment, and proper disposal.
Program-Pollution Prevention Services is designated as a program of the Division of Environmental Protection within the Office of Water Resources.
Source Reduction-Any practice which reduces the amount of any substance, pollutant, or contaminant entering any waste stream or otherwise released into the environment (including fugitive emissions) prior to recycling, treatment, or disposal; and reduces the hazards to public health and the environment associated with the release of such substances, pollutants, or contaminants.
