Jan 2020: State Lead Facility Based Programs

Jean Fix and Cameron Maschino Indiana Department of Environmental Management will discuss the Indiana Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP), a voluntary, performance-based leadership program that recognizes and rewards Indiana regulated entities for going above and beyond compliance with current environmental regulations. Ms. Fix will will focus on the program's objectives, goals, eligibility requirements, member benefits, and measured successes. Mr. Maschino will discuss the CLEAN Community Challenge, giving a brief overview of the old program and compare it to the proposed changes. These changes came about from research done by a summer intern and feedback from a working group consisting of external stakeholders.

Rebecca Sproles with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control will provide information on the SC Environmental Excellence Program (SCEEP). The SCEEP began in 1998 and was developed to recognize our businesses and other regulated entities who are going above and beyond their regulatory requirements towards sustainability and pollution prevention. We will discuss how this program accepts new members and what the process is for maintaining membership as well as some benefits to being a member in good standing.

Feb 2020: Tourism Programs

Sheena Chin with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Katy LaFata with the State of California's Department of General Services will discuss leadership programs for the tourism industry.

May 2020: Awards Programs

The NY DEC Environmental Excellence Awards presentation will cover the application process, the types of applicants we are looking for, examples of past winners, the benefits of receiving an application, and the modifications we have already implemented and plan to make in light of the COVID-19 crisis.

Ohio EPA’s Encouraging Environmental Excellence (E3) Program recognizes an organization’s exceptional achievements in environmental stewardship. Any business, industry, trade association, professional organization or local government of Ohio can be recognized for their commitment to environmental excellence. The program has a four-level approach to provide recognition to Ohio organizations completing environmentally beneficial activities. The E3 program has 8 E4 recipients, 12 Platinum Level recipients, 49 Gold Level recipients, 38 Silver Level recipients, 80 Achievement Level recipients and 137 individual organizations recognized in one or more of these four levels.
